What a great interview, thanks! It was quite uplifting and a reminder to follow the music that's already in your heart and soul.

I love where he said that playing music is a "a transference of joy." and that he's a "vessel." How true...I feel the same way when I sing.

Thanks again,

Rebecca.

Thanks to everyone for being interested in "the guy behind the curtain" with The Steve Miller Band. Your comments are encouraging and Michelle is an example of how blogging and the net have connected so many who would have never met, and even healed the gaps between us all. For further reading, buy Guitar Player magazine this month. Steve is on the cover and there is a small sidebar in there about me and my equipment set-up and my take on the boss and our new CD. Peace

Michelle
What a fantastic interview!

I totally understand on a deeper level what Kenny is referring to…it’s not about me…it’s about the gifts and talents I am blessed to have that go through me to those that are touched by them.

I can’t wait to see where this blog journey of yours will continue to take you…so exciting! You have a gift of reaching others and allowing them to share their story on a level that I trust does not happen often for them. The special something that you are tapping into is not what we usually get from interviews…it’s deeper yet very relatable. Keep it up!

Great interview. You did a wonderful job. The questions you asked were great and it was fun to hear about someone who is just as valuable to the band as everyone else but we don't get to hear much about.

PS I LOVE Steve Miller Band!!

Great interview! I recently got to meet Kenny Lee, at the concert that wasn't in Vegas. I didn't recognize him as he was in those funky shorts, wearing glasses with a golf cap on backwards. He introduced himself and I ask if he was the new guy, lol. He was so nice and considerate. I always thought he was kind of stuck on himself but far from it. He gave me a pick and I shared my new found memorabilia> ~ http://www.facebook.com/v/1361277749719 ~ I should have know he was a great guy because everyone else is that work's for SMB. I love Jeff Beck also. Thinking about heading to Europe this fall and catching some R&R over there which will definitely include SMB and Jeff Beck!

Michelle & Bill,

The two of you consistently amaze me with your passion for music. That passion for music and your passion for transforming lives make me happy each day that I think of the two of you.

There was something else I appreciated when reading Kenny's comments about being a "vehicle" for the love that is shared when he plays his guitar. A couple weeks ago, I met a family to talk to them about a funeral for their brother. When I walked in the front door, one of his sisters saw me and said, "You look really familiar. Do you do services for other funeral homes?" Through a couple more questions we arrived at the truth that I had been the minister at their mother's service seven years previously. Another sister told me that she hadn't wanted to speak at her mom's service, but there had been something I said that day that inspired her to approach the microphone. She couldn't remember at all what it was that I had said, but it had transformed her thinking.

As I drove home from our meeting, I thought about how overjoyed I was that people don't remember specifics about me when I'm ministering to them. What they do remember is feeling comfort, passion for doing positive things that they thought they couldn't do, and the beginnings of healing from the tragic loss they've suffered. I don't care that they don't remember my name or other inconsequential specifics; like Kenny, I'm just glad that I could be a vehicle!

You both are in my heart.

@ Joan: Yep, it was a pure pleasure to do this interview and easy to make that 'soul connection' like you said. 100% cool guy (hi, Kenny!). :)

@ Mary: Thanks! I think we made a great team and it was fun to do the interview. I was inspired, too!
